Students from Brunei will usually undertake Brunei/Cambridge GCE A level examinations or Brunei Darussalam Technical and Vocational Educational Council (BDTVEC). Both qualifications allow students to apply for undergraduate degree courses. In the second case, (2), the internship is supervised by the industrial partner or research institution.

Add a year in industry

Our MSc Artificial Intelligence postgraduate degree offers advanced knowledge and skill development, driven by industry collaboration, and delivered in research-focused learning environment. Our embedded systems laboratories are used to develop real-time systems, such as specialist hardware training and development resources, and industrial-standard software ai engineering degree development and simulation tools. Mechanical Materials and Manufacturing Engineering

Our advanced mobile robotics and intelligent agents laboratory contains a variety of mobile robots for teaching and research. Experience working with these will enhance your professional and practical skills for the workplace. We welcome applications from mature students with non-standard qualifications and recognise all other equivalent and international qualifications.

The module aims to develop the students’ competence and confidence in their ability to implement an algorithm or a computing system, starting from a design specification, using programming languages widely used in industry and academia. Your overall workload consists of lectures, practical classes, independent learning, and assessments. For full-time students, the workload should be approximately equivalent to a full-time job. For part-time students, this will reduce in proportion with the number of modules you are studying. Each block develops mathematical concepts and techniques that are of foundational importance to computing. The intention is to enthuse about these topics, to demonstrate why they are important to us, to lay the foundations of their knowledge and prepare students for future computing courses.

These can be undergraduate or postgraduate, and sometimes include a work placement. While you are studying, you can expect to learn about programming, mechanics, and even the political and philosophical issues surrounding the subject. Some institutions, such as the University of Melbourne, go as far as offering short courses in AI ethics. This module will cover classical and modern knowledge engineering techniques including logic, ontology, knowledge graph, and uncertainty reasoning. Many of our courses consider applications for entry part-way through the course for students who have credit from previous learning or relevant professional experience. You will train in artificial intelligence, software development, and foundations of cyber security.

In order to secure an internship, students must pass through screening held by the internship supervisor. These internships can be research-focused, or devoted to applications of existing and recent techniques in AI and machine learning. The company you work with can be in a wide variety of spaces—bringing AI to healthcare, finance, engineering, etc., and using techniques in vision, NLP, deep learning, reinforcement learning, on real-world data and problems.

An AI professional needs to exploit a broad range of skills and is likely to conduct their work according to a range of both well-established and cutting-edge roles. In the final year, you will study cutting-edge techniques in modern computing, including deep neural networks, modern data stores, cloud computing and natural language processing. In addition, you will complete an individual project to demonstrate your technical skills and general employability in preparation for your career. The individual project simulates typical graduate workplace tasks that require in-depth knowledge and skills in a specific area of computer science and artificial intelligence.
